Marina beach
The second-longest beach in the world and India’s longest beach are both located in Chennai along the Bay of Bengal. From Beasant Nagar in the south to Fort St. George in the north, this mostly sandy 12-kilometer stretch. In the 1880s, Governor Mountstuart Elphinstone Grant Duff refurbished the beach at Chennai Marina. All visitors who come to Chennai never fail to visit this magnificent beach. Taxis, buses, and two- and three-wheeled vehicles can all get you to Marina Beach with ease.
Besant Nagar Beach
One of India’s cleanest beaches is Besant Nagar Beach in Chennai, popularly known as Edward Elliot’s Beach. The beach draws visitors from all over the world because of its attractions, which include golden sand beaches, crashing waves, and an endless stretch of the ocean. The calm and peaceful atmosphere of the beach uplifts people’s spirits and revitalises their minds and souls.
At the beach, you can see the spectacular dawn and sunset as the sun’s golden rays paint the sky. After the renowned chief magistrate and superintendent police of Chennai, Edward Elliott, the beach is known as Edward Elliot’s Beach.
Semmozhi Poonga Garden
One of Chennai’s most popular botanical gardens is Semmozhi Poonga. The garden’s lovely design has drawn visitors and filmmakers in addition to making it a treat for regular morning walkers. St. Thomas Mount

The Madras Crocodile Bank
A reptile zoo and herpetology research facility, the Madras Crocodile Bank Trust and Centre for Herpetology is situated 40 kilometres south of Chennai in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Under the Wildlife Act of 1972, the centre is both a registered trust and a recognised zoo, and it is governed by the Central Zoo Authority of the Indian Ministry of Environment and Forests. The marsh or mugger crocodile, the saltwater crocodile, and the gharial were three endangered crocodile species in India that were on the verge of extinction when the trust was founded.
Chennai lighthouse
On the eastern coast of the Indian Subcontinent at Chennai, India, there have been at least four lighthouses with the names Chennai Lighthouse or Madras Lighthouse that face the Bay of Bengal. The current lighthouse was built by East Coast Constructions and Industries in 1976 and became a landmark on Marina Beach in January 1977. It also contains the meteorological department’s office. It reopened to guests on November 16th, 2013. It is one of the few lighthouses with an elevator in the entire world. Additionally, it is the only lighthouse in the city limits of India. It has a solar panel for power.
ISKCON Chennai
The spiritual and cultural centre of the city is the ISKCON Temple, which is situated on the East Coast Road in the Sholinganallur neighborhood of South Chennai. In addition to being the largest Radha Krishna temple in Tamil Nadu, this temple in Chennai is also one of the largest ISKCON temples in India.
The ISKCON temple in Chennai has a long history that dates back to the late 1970s. Construction on the temple started in the late 1990s and was finished in phases in 2012. The three unique teak-wood alters at the temple contain the divinity of Lord Krishna, Radharani, and their friends Lalita, Lord Chaitanya, Lord Jagannath, Baladeva, and Subhadra. These gods come from Orissa and Rajasthan.
