Mahabalipuram(60 kilometers from Chennai), also known as Mamallapuram, is a town in the Chengalpattu district of the Tamil Nadu state in south-eastern India. It is well known for the Hindu monuments at Mahabalipuram, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that dates to the seventh and eighth centuries. It is one of India's most well-known tourist destinations.

Pondicherry(150 kilometers from Chennai), now known as Puducherry, a French colonial settlement in India until 1954, is the largest city and the capital of India's Union Territory of Puducherry. The city is located in the Puducherry district on the southeast coast of India.
